Information:
Well, here I am finally, with a Retrospective Exhibition
of 30 some years of painting full time for a living. The
years of painting went by quickly but organizing them into
an Exhibition for a website seemed to take forever.
I have never yet had an exhibition in a Gallery with an
opening.
To date, I have painted and sold hundreds of Original Paintings
without ever having sent out an invitation. With so little
fanfare over the years, I am surprised anyone has ever heard
of my work. Most of the advertising was by word of mouth,
from satisfied customers.
Visitors may now access 750 or more pages with another 200
to 300 pages still under construction.
The website is basically divided into two parts; The Art
of Herb Sellin and the Art of Sharen Bentley. Sharen was
included on the website because of her artistic ability.
She
was asked to assist me with my Millennium Project, ZooMoo
2000, for the same reason.
The Art of Herb Sellin presently consists of 605 Original
Paintings of mostly rural subject matter. One can hardly
miss the fact that I grew up on a farm on the banks of the
Burnt River or Saddle River (as they now call it), 18 miles
southwest of a little town called Spirit River, about 50
miles north of Grande Prairie in an area known as the Peace
River Country, of northern Alberta, Canada.
Since the website is a Retrospective Exhibition of 30 years
of Painting, it is fairly large. As a result, considerable
attention was paid to organizing the material in an uncluttered
manner and designing the menu in such a way that navigation
throughout the website was quick and easy via multiple routes.
Home page will take you to the Gallery index consisting
of 76 pages where all 605 Original Paintings can be viewed
in a second or two. Click onto any one of the 76 pages that
may interest you. Hover over any painting for a couple of
seconds and a title will appear. Click on an individual
painting and another page will come up with that individual
painting, framed, with all the necessary information regarding
the piece, such as name, price or sold, frame, date, size,
medium, on canvas or board, reference number and reproductions
available. Click for information regarding definitions,
purchasing, shipping etc. With the amount of material on
this website, navigation could hardly be simpler with a
roving menu that follows you where ever you go.

Biography
of the Artist & Webmaster: Mr. Herb Sellin
Herb Sellin was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta and grew
up on a farm near Spirit River. He has been painting full-time
for more than 30 years. His Landscapes and Portraits grace
the walls of hundreds of offices and homes throughout North
America and Europe. Internationally he is best known for
his life-size portrait of the former Prime Minister of Canada,
the late Rt. Hon. John G. Diefenbaker.
Herb studied Advertising at the Alberta College of Art in
Calgary, and later studied Painting privately under the
late retired former Head, Dr. Stanford Perrott.
Specializing in Creative Ideas in his final year of Art
School, Herb immediately became Art Director in Advertising
for Eaton's Stores of Alberta for 2 years, where he won
numerous International Awards in Advertising. Searching
for an Art Form more lasting than Advertising, Herb began
painting full-time. He was greatly influenced by Tom Thompson,
the "French Impressionists" and "The Fauves".
His work is therefore marked by his sense of brilliant Color,
Design and Composition, coupled with his often dramatic
use of light and shade. Herb is as well-versed in the Fine
Arts of Painting Realism and Abstraction as he is in designing
Corporate Logos and Advertising Campaigns. Herb owned and
operated "The Herb Sellin Gallery" from 1979 to
1989, which handled his work exclusively. Herb enjoys physics
and inventing. Presently he lives and paints in Calgary.

you and your fellow judges put into evaluating each site.
It is a great service that you do for the internet community.
A lot of great ideas have came judges like you to make my
