Mourners flowed in and out all day at the outdoor ceremonial funeral stage set up at the National Assembly for the late former Korean President Kim Dae-jung.
Final preparations were being made on Saturday, one day before the scheduled state funeral, the first for a former president.
The National Assembly had special meaning for the late president.
As a six-time elected congressman Kim had always been a strong advocate for parliamentary democracy.
[Interview : Bae June-young, National Assembly Vice spokesperson] "The late former president Kim Dae-jung had dedicated his entire life to democracy. To conduct the funeral service at the National Assembly is an opportunity for the conflicting ruling and opposition parties, the Korean people and the two Koreas to take a step towards reconciliation."
Now, the National Assembly, where Kim took his oath as president, will also serve as his lasting memory.
Articles used by the former president were on display as well.
Some 40 items from clothes to books that were worn and used by Kim were on hand for visitors to commemorate his life.
