The Songyi pine mushroom is so special that it is referred to as a golden mushroom or diamond in the woods. It is also particularly expensive, one kilogram of songi costs over 200,000 won. Access to the natural environment to these luxury pine mushrooms is strictly restricted, therefore the Songi Festival is a great opportunity to discover the mushroom's ecology and pick them in the mountains. Visitors can also sample various healthy organic dishes made from the mushrooms. Each year the festival attracts a growing number of visitors from across the nation.
