The 'Namsadang' were troupes of entertainers who traveled around the country during the latter years of the Joseon Dynasty (1392~1910), performing dances, songs, and acrobatics at marketplaces and villages. Today they are more commonly known as performance artists. 'Baudeogi (1848~1870)', which is the festival's theme, was a woman who was the leader of one of Anseong's Namsadang groups, which at the time was thought to be the best Namsadang group in Korea. The festival consists of over 200 different events. Visitors can watch many Namsadang performances, as well as folk performances by groups from other countries.
