Details

The Pohang Fire Light Festival held in Pohang's Northern Beach is a summer festival which the theme this year is based on fire and light. Pohang is not only a sightseeing city where Homigot Beach is located, famous for its beautiful sunrise, but also an industrial city where Posco, the world famous steel-manufacturing company, is located.

As the largest festival in Pohang which about three hundred thousand spectators visited in 2005, five large-sized barges will be set afloat on the sea 300~400 meters far from Pohang's Northern Beach to light up Yeongil Bay by splendid fireworks from the barges. A multimedia show and a music concert are also planned.

Festival Guide

At the Pohang Fire Light Festival, the largest show of fireworks among the local festivals in Korea can be enjoyed. In addition, because the festival is held at a famous beach with beautiful seascape views in summer, it will provide visitors with a great opportunity to enjoy their summer vacation. A spectacular show of fireworks presenting a 70 meter high Niagara Waterfall will be displayed from a 40 meter high crane, and an international exhibition of fireworks will also be shown by domestic and overseas firework teams from Korea, Japan, etc.
Each country will display a totally different show of fireworks, which makes spectators' eyes widen and mouths drop in awe. Japan will show off its high technology which displays elaborate firework shapes and color changes of fireworks that happens 3~4 times after it's gone off. Korea will present an exquisite musical show of fireworks, which makes a lasting impression on spectators as if they've watched a music video or a movie.

After enjoying the Pohang Fire Light Festival till late into the night, a tour course will be available. Visitors can go to Homigot Beach to see the beautiful sunrise, which will be a wonderful way to enjoy this festival. Furthermore, the performance of famous Korean performing artists and singers will enrich the festival.

Major Highlight

Pohang is the perfect place to enjoy water sports such as a Surfboarding, Water Skiing, Jet Skiing, Windsurfing, etc., offered by the members of water sport clubs and associations. Brief classes for beginners to experience water sports will also be offered.

By Train: Go to Seoul Station (7:40am & 5:40pm / 2 services a day / Time Required: 5hrs. 10 mins.) -> Get off at Pohang Station

By Bus: Take a Bus to Pohang at Seoul Central City Express Bus Terminal
(6:00am-12:30am / Running Interval: 20-60 mins. / Midnight (22:00-24:20) / Time Required: 4hr. 40min.) -> Get off at Pohang Bus Terminal and take a taxi to Pohang Northern Beach (Takes 15 minutes / Fare : 6,000 ~ 8,000 won)
